Dr. Gaines has been administering bioidentical hormone therapy since 1993. He transitioned into age-management medicine officially in 2005 after a distinguished 30-year career as an anesthesiologist. It was his belief that conventional medicine was failing far too many patients. He questioned the prevailing wisdom that a physician's primary duty is to treat the effects of disease. All too often, he observed doctors prescribing medications that merely suppressed symptoms rather than addressing the underlying causes. Insufficient emphasis was being placed on reversing degenerative diseases. For patients, the results were both tragic and predictable: a rapid loss of health and vitality as their illnesses progressed from one stage to the next. He resolved to find a new approach to healing that preserved health and wellness before disease and aging had a chance to take hold.

At his practice, HealthGAINS, patients experience first-class medical care at a reasonable rate. Dr. Gaines will only prescribe medication if a patient's hormone levels cannot be improved through lifestyle changes. And before making recommendations, he consults an extensive 55-panel blood test which shows the patient's complete picture of health.

Today, Dr. Gaines is at the forefront of this rapidly evolving science of anti-aging medicine. He thrives in the knowledge that he is helping people to live vibrant, healthy lives while preventing age-related diseases. He, himself, enjoys the benefits of BHRT. At age 60 he defies his family genetics and participates in adventurous and strenuous sports like heli-skiing, hang gliding, and competitive running.

NOTE on Insurance: Innovative practitioners and insurance companies have long debated the importance of preventive medicine and services such as BHRT.
